When she's not inviting us to share an umbrella on a rainy, windswept day, pop warbler Rihanna fancies herself as something of a thesp. Yes, in another case of a pop star scratching that 'acting' itch, Rihanna will soon be making her feature film debut aboard Peter Berg's Battleship.

Based on the iconic Hasbro board game, Battleship will also feature the erstwhile talents of Taylor Kitsch (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) and Alexander Skarsgard (True Blood). The seafaring actioner will be torpedoing our cinemas on May 18, 2012.

Battleship will unfold as a massive Naval adventure across the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force. Kitsch stars as a Naval officer who leads the fight and Skarsgard will play his brother in the film. There is no word as yet as to the role Rihanna will play but our money's on the love interest.
