Pixar gives Muppet movie a helping hand

Is there anything that Pixar can't do? The studio with the Midas touch doesn't just make great movies that make us laugh hysterically and weep like inconsolable children, while earning billions and garnering an army of fans, it is now also lending its considerable skills to others. Having already consulted on the likes of Tron Legacy, Pixar is also reported to be giving a helping hand to the new Muppet movie.

The Hollywood Reporter is saying that the filmmakers flew to Pixar's Emeryville headquarters to showcase part of their new film. It's reported that there was a reading of the film, which stars and is written by Jason Segel, for Pixar royalty Pete Docter, Brad Bird, Michael Arndt and Ed Catmull.

It's been ages since a really great movie starring Kermit and co was released, but we have complete faith in Pixar. The film is currently pencilled in for a Christmas 2011 release, which gives the studio enough time to plug the Gulf oil leak, save the rainforests, invent a new renewable source of energy and make Toy Story 4.
