Brad Pitt enlists for World War Z

Last seen scalping Nazis in Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds, Brad Pitt looks set to star in a war movie of a slightly different kind. Max Brooks, the man who wrote zombie romp World War Z, has been speaking at Comic-Con and told MTV that Brad Pitt is indeed confirmed to star in an adaptation of his book.

Rumours had been abounding about this ever since Pitt's production company, Plan B, sealed the movie rights, but Brooks has now hammered the last nail into the (undead's) coffin. The story tells the tale of an unnamed researcher looking into a zombie pandemic that 'killed off' most of the world's population with Pitt expected to play the lead role.

Marc Forster is still the man helming the project, while J. Michael Straczynski (Changeling) wrote the script before it was given a do-over by Matthew Michael Carnahan (State of Play). World War Z is not expected to be ready until 2012.
