Last seen losing some of her hard-earned credibility in the frankly atrocious Leap Year, Amy Adams looks set to be getting her career back on track again as the intriguing choice to play Janis Joplin in an upcoming biopic.

Fearnet and Deadline are both confirming, via producer Wyck Godfrey, that the all-American redhead will definitely be playing the 1960s singer in a film to be directed by Fernando Meirelles (City Of God). No studio is involved at this stage and a script has been through several drafts, but with Oscar-nominated Adams now confirmed as the headline act, things are sure to pick up.
